Additional Info:

The STATEN ISLAND GEOLOGICAL SOCIETY, INC (SIGS) was organized in 1972 to offer programs to the community on the study of geology and its related Earth Sciences. The aim of the Society is to encourage the collection and preservation of minerals, fossils, and other geological specimens, and the aesthetic appreciation of these specimens. The Society is a nonprofit organization, whose goal is to plan activities for the pleasure and enjoyment of its members.

Our yearly activities include scheduled meetings on the second Friday of each month, September to June, with interesting lecture programs, field trips, study workshops, visits to museums, rock quarries, and other places of special geological interest and above all, a friendly and pleasant atmosphere.
