The purpose and objectives of the Island Rockhounds, Inc. are to conduct a non-profit, non-political organization to provide the members with opportunities for work study, and to stimulate in the public and membership, a scientific and educational interest in geology, mineralogy, paleontology, archaeology and related earth sciences, as well as lapidary craftsmanship, gemology, and related subjects, and to offer a cultural and social exchange for persons interested in the aforementioned.
