Additional Info:

We are in the process of re-branding ourselves as the Gem and Mineral Society of Greater Stamford. This is to reflect our interests in precious stones and minerals, along with the Earth Sciences. Our members come from all of Lower Fairfield County in Connecticut as well as Westchester County in New York.

The SMS was founded in 1954 as an educational organization by people interested in the earth sciences, including mineralogy, geology, paleontology as well as the lapidary arts. The society is operated by amateurs interested in these fields. Our meetings, which usually feature guest speakers, are open to the public. We also have periodic field trips to collect mineral specimens, and we sponsor a yearly show that features mineral dealers from across the northeastern U.S.
