An EFMLS Award Program

Always involved by way of hands-on teaching, EFMLS Past President Bramwell Terrill began a program in 1972 he coined, “Each One – Teach One.”  Bramwell’s idea was to encourage local Society members to go out and teach others how to promote our interests; cutting cabochons, collecting minerals & fossils, designing jewelry and whatever aspect our common and collective activities was of interest to them.  Since the inception of this idea, Societies have been encouraged to submit the names of those individuals who have taken Bram’s challenge to teach and educate others.

Several years later, the Eastern Federation began to officially honor one or two individuals per year at the Annual Convention as a result of their volunteer activities in teaching others.  The initial guidelines were simple.  The individual had to volunteer his or her educational services as a member of an EFMLS Affiliate Society.  Those who were to receive financial gain as a result of their services were not to be recognized.
